Dr. Mary Jean Sotack was born in Hazelton, PA and moved to Williamsburg, Virginia in 1976 with her family. She is a 1985 graduate of Christopher Newport University and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1990. From 1990 to 1991 Dr. Sotack served as an Intern in Dental Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. It was in her hospital training that she learned how important her roll as a health care provider is to the over all health of her patients and has incorporated this knowledge in her practice.
Dr. Sotack is a member of the Tidewater Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the International Dental Research Association and the Portsmouth-Suffolk Dental Study Club where she served as the President in 2000-2001. In 2006 she was honored by the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry as a table clinician in Chicago, Illinois. She is an Affiliate Instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. Dr. Sotack has also served in a missionary capacity for free dental clinics in rural southwest Virginia and served the community with Mustard Seed and Mountains Mission in West Virginia. She is the current Virginia Chair for the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honor dental association.
In her spare time Dr. Sotack enjoys being active in her church, traveling with her family and outdoors sports.
